Medellin's largest science and technology museum.

Parque Explora is an interactive museum of science and technology in Medellín. It is one of the most important symbols of social transformation. Education is their main goal. It has an aquarium with an emphasis on the Amazon, a planetarium, a public experimentation workshop -Exploratory- and more than 300 interactive experiences.
Even the external structure of the Explora park is interesting and causes curiosity to those who are visiting, those four red boxes that can be seen from far are the four rooms that investigate the mysteries of the mind, physics, the history of the media and communications. The park also has an open space to discover the adventure of science.

The Explora park besides of having more than 20 national recognitions, it also has international recognitions such as:

The Aquarium

The Aquarium and the Vivarium are the most representative spaces of the Explora park, they promote the conservation and investigation of life. There are more than two thousand individuals of various species that inhabit these two places.
Explora park aquarium is one of the largest freshwater aquariums in South America, with a capacity of 580,000 liters of water, here you can see the pirarucú, the second largest fish in freshwater in the world.

The Vivarium​

Colombia is the second most biodiverse country in the world. At the Vivarium you can see tons of different kinds of animals such as snakes and frogs. There are some poisonous frogs from the in Colombia’s Amazon, don’t worry, it’s completely safe to see them.

The museum is close on Mondays and if its public holiday,
then it’s close to following Tuesday.

Travel Tips / FYI

Make sure you have enough time to visit the park, each room will have interactive experiences that you will want to try, there’s a lot standing and walking, so be sure to wear comfortable shoes and clothing expect to spend about 2hours in Parque Explora. It’s a good opportunity to explore the places around Parque Explora, like Parque de los Desires (Desire Park), Jardine Botanico and Planetario Medellin.

If you are hungry, don’t worry. There is a small foodcourt inside Parque Explora, which as general colombian food likes empanadas, fried food, coffee etc.. if you’re interested something different you can visit Parque de los Desires which has lots of street food options or botanical garden that has some restaurants with more options of food.

Getting There & Parking​

The Parque Explora is located in the North Zone of the city where some of the most important tourist attractions are; the Jardin de Botanico, the Parque de los Desires, and the Parque Norte.

Metro: The best and easiest way of getting to Parque Explora by metro.
Take the Linea A of the metro towards “Niquia” get off at Universidad metro station, just follow the directions inside the station, Explora is just outside the metro station.

Taxi / Uber: is also a good option; prices from Poblado are roughly around 18,000 COP
