History

San Félix, situated to the west of the Bello municipality, fuels a significant portion of the commercial and agricultural economy. The region proudly produces essentials like coffee, rush onion, plantain, potato, tomato, and beans. However, dairy reigns supreme, closely trailed by pork production. The area has given rise to eco-tourism, marked by campgrounds, natural spas, and viewpoints that grant panoramic views of Aburrá Valley. Moreover, San Félix is acclaimed for its paragliding ventures and rich culinary scene.
San Félix, situated to the west of the Bello municipality, fuels a significant portion of the commercial and agricultural economy. Geographically, San Félix lies west of Bello. It borders the municipality of San Pedro de los Milagros to the north, with notable villages such as Quitasol, Tierradentro, and La Primavera to the east; Medellín to the south; and San Jerónimo to the west. It’s positioned just 16 km (approximately 9.9 miles) away from Medellín.
With an elevation of 2,510 meters, San Félix boasts a population of slightly above 10,000 inhabitants.
Originally, indigenous communities thrived on the fertile terrains of San Félix. As the Spanish settlers marked their presence in the 16th century, the region transitioned into a pivotal agricultural hub, with coffee cultivation at its core. Throughout the centuries, San Félix has preserved its cultural legacy, inviting visitors on a captivating trip through history.

Among the several flight service providers, “Parapente San Félix” is well known in San Felix.

How To Get To San Felix

San Felix is about 30-40 minutes from Medellin and is easily reachable by Bus or Car. Below are your options of transportation to get to San Felix. 

Bus: Depart from Terminal Del Norte in Medellín and board a bus bound for San Félix. A one-way ticket typically costs 7 mil. 

Car: From Poblado area in Medellín, a 30-45 minute drive leads to San Félix. Simply input “Parapente San Felix” in your GPS
