Los Gavilanes — Zarzuela

Two nights of Jacinto Guerrero's classic Spanish zarzuela, staged at the Teatro Metropolitano. Zarzuela sits between opera and musical theatre — sung numbers broken up by spoken scenes — and Los Gavilanes is one of the warmest and most tuneful of the form. Performed in Spanish, but the melodrama translates fine even if your Spanish doesn't.
