In the late 1990s, the commercial and real estate sectors in Medellín came together to create a plan to build a shopping mall that would provide a convenient and safe shopping experience for the people of Medellín. Despite the challenging economic climate at the time, the first phase of the mall was opened in 1999 with 174 stores. Over the years, El Tesoro Mall has grown in size and popularity, with the addition of two more phases that added another 260 stores, an events center and a 22-story medical tower.

El Tesoro Mall is home to over 400 shops and businesses, offering a wide range of products and services. You can find everything from clothing, footwear, jewelry, and sporting goods to furniture, opticians, travel agencies, and restaurants.
Some of the anchor tenants of the mall include Carrulla, Cinemark, Ktronix, and Smart Fit. The mall also features two food courts that offer fast food options, as well as several restaurants that provide a more formal dining experience.
Apart from the anchor tenants mentioned above, there are many other stores in El Tesoro Mall that are worth exploring. For instance, there is a large Zara store, which is one of the most popular clothing brands in Colombia. There is also a large H&M store, which offers trendy and affordable clothing for both men and women.

The arcade and other family activities

If you’re planning a visit, be sure to take note of the arcade’s schedule: it’s open Tuesday to Friday from 2 pm to 8 pm, Saturday from 11 am to 8 pm, and Sunday and holidays from noon to 8 pm. With these hours, there’s plenty of time to enjoy all that Afterland has to offer.
In addition to the arcade hall, the mall also features a small park with rides for kids, including a Ferris wheel and a train. This makes El Tesoro Mall a great destination for families with children, as there is something for everyone to enjoy.

Movie theatre

The Tesoro Mall in Medellin not only offers shopping and dining experiences but also houses the first Cinemark movie theater in Colombia, which opened its doors in 1999. Since then, Cinemark has grown to become a major player in the Colombian cinema industry with a total of 35 movie theaters and 188 screens throughout the country. In fact, Cinemark has opened a new location in the Arkadia mall in November 2019, adding to their impressive portfolio of cinemas.

One of the perks of being a frequent movie-goer is the Cinemark Gold card, which can be obtained for 17,900 pesos. This card provides exclusive discounts on Cinemark movie tickets and food, which can add up to significant savings over time.

The first is the “Plan Smart” membership, which has a sign-up fee of 90,000 pesos and a monthly fee of 79,900 pesos, in addition to an annual maintenance fee of 89,000 pesos. This membership plan provides access to a single location.
The second membership plan is called “Plan Black,” which costs 45,000 pesos to sign up and 69,900 pesos per month, with an annual maintenance fee of 89,000 pesos. This plan allows members to access all Smart Fit locations and bring a friend along for their workout.
In Medellin alone, Smart Fit has a total of 10 locations, with three additional locations in Envigado, two in Itagüí, one in Bello, and one in Sabaneta. In total, Smart Fit has 17 locations in the metropolitan area of Medellin.

Food options at Centro Comercial El Tesoro

Getting There & Parking​

El Tesoro Mall is located in the upscale neighborhood of El Poblado in Medellín. Getting to the mall is relatively easy due to its central location and the availability of various transportation options. Here are some of the ways you can get to El Tesoro Mall:

Taxi: Taxis are widely available in Medellín and are a popular way to get around the city. You can hail a taxi on the street or use one of the taxi apps available in Colombia, such as Cabify, Uber, or InDrive. If you choose to take a taxi, make sure to check the driver is using the official tariffs and has reset the taximeter.

Bus: El Tesoro Mall is accessible by public transportation. The closest metro station is Aguacatala, which is located about 1.5 km from the mall. From there, you can take a bus or a taxi to the mall. Buses that pass by the mall include the El Poblado Circular (Circular 303) and the San Lucas – El Tesoro (Integrado 302).
