Foreigners with a monthly pension equal to or greater than three Colombian minimum wages can apply for the Colombia Retirement Visa. This visa allows you to stay for up to three years and accumulate time toward permanent residency (Type-R) after 5 years.
After Resolution 5477, pensioners must have medical insurance to be able to apply for the Retirement visa and demonstrate that they are in good health conditions. If you want to access the Colombian health system, with a Retirment visa it is no longer possible.
Visa Requirements
Valid passport with at least six months of validity
Present a monthly pension certificate with an amount equal to or greater than three minimum wages (3.900.000 COP). The certificate must be apostilled and translated.
A certificate of a judicial, criminal, or police record must be issued by the authority of the country where the applicant resided for the last three years. The record must be apostilled, legalized, and translated.
A medical certificate issued by either the Colombian authority or the medical health authority of the country of origin.
A Health Insurance policy that provides coverage across the country for all risks in case of an accident.
